As an adult can someone change their personality, without becoming false?

I think it's possible that someone could change or at least modify portions of their personality as an adult, with therapy or counseling, but on the whole you are who you are and attempting to change without sincerely wanting to, like to impress someone, would be disingenuous. As an adult can someone change their personality, without becoming false?
YesAs an adult can someone change their personality, without becoming false?
Yes, but it has to be a long process and the person has got to be willing to change.
Sure- it can happen with a near-death experience, or any time your outlook on life changes.
Yes. We can go out of our way to make us, the best 'us' we can be. This could mean a lot of reading and practice, but it can be done. Patience is virtue...we're bound to slip...but we are capable of bouncing back.
However unlikely it is quite possible. the more drastic the change the less likely it is to occur, but they are very possible. There are many events in life that can alter someone's personality at any point in their lives. Most commonly - of significant effect- are traumatic events. People that have post traumatic disorder for example.

Or to be more general, Think about people that go from happy and excited to bitter and calculating without any trauma. Just the slow developments of life.

Both immediate events and long drawn out life processes can change/alter personality.

Note: there are also mental illnesses and chemical imbalances that can cause personality alterations late in life.

Some more extreme forms of menopause included.
I think a person's personality is established at a young age and stays persistent and consistent throughout life. A person will never be comfortable trying to be who they are not, it's not natural for them. We can't mold, shape or change people into who we think they should be or want them to be. We are who we are. As adults, we just learn self-control and how to respond and react in different situations; like when to be the parent and when to be the child. You are still the same person no matter where. I don't think it's being false, it's being part of a society.
I think an adult is an actor... I mean, whether it is on a job interview, trying to seduce someone, teaching a lesson to his child or meeting an old school mate he is so many people, that i think in the end, he becomes false.
