What advice do you wish everyone knew? ...about commonly held beliefs which you believe to be false?

That if you take a medication (say a narcotic like Vicodin) and become nauseous and vomit you have an allergy to the drug.

This is a side - effect, not an allergic response.

Most laypeople don't understand the difference between a true allergic reaction, or a side-effect or adverse effect. What advice do you wish everyone knew? ...about commonly held beliefs which you believe to be false?
I wish all people knew:

1. that you CANNOT give children Aspirin - can cause Reye's Syndrome. If you got kids, BUY SOME TYLENOL!!! Acetaminophen is the way to go, so keep kids off NSAIDS.

2. Handwashing prevents 80% of contact/infectious diseases. It is one of the most basic things that everyone can do and will dramatically reduce your chances of getting sick.

3. Unwanted pregnancy leads to way too many dumpster babies. If this thought ever crosses your mind, PLEASE, just bring your baby to any hospital, clinic, fire or police department, or even pharmacy - no questions, no shame, no blame - you're covered under the Safe Surrender Act and no one will press charges or ask questions.

4. Wikipedia info can be modified by anyone so double check your info before taking everything you see there seriously.

5. Bumper stickers can be a great source of happiness in your daily routine - just imagine sitting in traffic for two hours and seeing a bumper sticker that reads ';Come to the dark side... We have cookies.'; Now wouldn't that make you smile or at least smirk one extra time that day? =DWhat advice do you wish everyone knew? ...about commonly held beliefs which you believe to be false?
Most people are deficient in Vitamin D from sunshine which leads to the flu during the winter. Vitamin D3 may also prevent many forms of cancer. The standard should be raised to at least 1000 IU of Vitamin D3 each day. The current standard is set at 400 IU each day which isn't nearly enough which is one reason most people are deficient... plus they don't get enough sunshine these days.
