Christians what exactly is a false phrophet ?

well every time i get on the religious section of Y/A my friend says that's its false phropheting and a sin'; and i am just answering questions Christians what exactly is a false phrophet ?
First of all, a prophet is not just one who predicts the future. Biblically, a prophet is one who speaks for God, according to what God tells or reveals to the prophet. At times, it may relate to future events. A false prophet is one who proclaims God says or said something, when God did not.

There are ways to determine if a prophet is false:

1. The prophet proclaims something is not a sin, when the scriptures say it is a sin.

2. A prophet says something will happen, and it does not happen.

3. The prophet says something about God which is contrary to God's character or nature.

If the prophet says ';thus says the Lord,'; or ';God told me this,'; is absolutely irrelevant - they are merely words coming out of a person's mouth. Whether they actually came from God or not is revealed in the truth of those words. A good example of false prophets is found in 2 Chronicles 18:

Basically, Ahab wanted to go to war and inquired of God by gathering together 400 prophets and asking them what the Lord says. These 400 prophets reply that the Lord says Ahab will prevail. Jehoshaphat, Ahab's ';son-in-law,'; aksed if there was a prophet of the Lord anywhere, to which Ahab answered there was ONE, but Ahab hated him because he never said anything good about Ahab. Essentially, Ahab gathered those around him to tell him only what he liked to hear.

So, Jehoshaphat sent for Micaiah, and Micaiah came before Ahab and Jehoshaphat. All 400 prophets were in agreement that Ahab would prevail in the battle. Pay attention to Ahab's question - he askes if WE would prevail, meaning Ahab and Jehoshaphat. Micaiah initially, and truthfully answers ';yes,'; because Jehoshaphat did prevail (he escaped with his life). Micaiah didn't tell the full prophesy, and Ahab prods him more, to which Micaiah explains that Ahab will be killed - Ahab was king of Israel and Micaiah proclaimed that Israel will be scattered as sheep without a shephard. Additionally, Micaiah indicates that in God's desire to destroy Ahab for his wickedness, God asks which spirit would go forth and get this done. A decieving spirit steps forward and states it will be a lying spirit in AHABS (not God's) prophets. You can read the rest. Ahab disguises himself but slowly dies over the course of that day from a randomly shot arrow which hits him between the joints in his armor.

Even though the 400 prophets Ahab had gathered together all indicate they had God's word, they were all false prophets because they did not speak what God had said. Only Micaiah did. The interesting thing in all of this is that the 400 prophets DID NOT KNOW they were prophesying falsely - look at the response Zedekiah gave in verse 18:23 - Zedekiah was insulted. (This also gives foundation for the meaning of ';turn the other cheek - when you are persecuted for what you say of the Lord).

So, a false prophet speaks lies and deception about God and what God says or has said. Additionally, a false prophet does not necessarily know they are spreading lies (although some do!). It is up to the hearer to discern what the prophet is saying, and to test what the prophet says (1 John 4:1)Christians what exactly is a false phrophet ?
There is one true prophet on the face of the earth today, Thomas S. Monson. All others who claim to be prophets are false prophets.

You are not ';false propheting'; if you started to prophesy and claim to be recieving revelation on the behalf of the world then ya, that would be false propheting, Y/A is sharing your beliefs, and teaching others what you stand for.

Answering these question is NOT false prophetic, you are spreading the word of God to all who want to listen.

A false prophet is one who claims to be directed by God to speak Prophecies, I can assure you that God will exposed these false teachers who pretend to know what is about to happen when in essences they truly know nothing, only for monetary gain.
the Bible shows the qualities of a false prophet...

';But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death. You may say to yourselves, 'How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?' If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.'; Deuteronomy 18:20-22
It's a knock-off of a genuine phrophet, probably made in a sweatshop in China. Always try to buy your phrophets from a reputable dealer to avoid getting a fake.
A false Prophet is a Prophet who is false. Their teachings are false and many don't even know it.
Those that teach things contrary to what is in the Bible, are false prophets.
Making money on false pretenses... kinda reminds me of organized religion!
Joel Olsteen comes to mind.
All prophets.
All prophets are false.
If they say God told them and it doesn't come to pass ?

False Prophet !

God had a clever and nasty strategy to promote altruism and therefore obedience. He tries to get us to believe in Original Sin. He wants us to believe that we are born sinful, that we were evil and needed saving even before we had done anything. We need God and his agents to save us from Sin otherwise we will burn FOREVER and we will miss out on an infinite and perfect reward (though he never tells us just what this is). Our path to salvation lies in service to God, selfless self-sacrificial service to God and his dogma. Without the idea of original sin we might not be so careful to obey God since we might figure that we were living pretty well and would go to heaven anyway (foolishly failing to inquire what heaven is like). Fortunately for God, Original Sin guarantees that we will always feel under threat. We will always be unclean and in danger of suffering hellfire.
